The Government of India has rolled out GST 2.0 reforms, effective September 22, 2025. This is the biggest tax reform since GST was first introduced in 2017. Under the new system, the earlier four tax slabs of 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% have been simplified into just two slabs – 5% and 18%.
This change has triggered a wave of price cuts across major FMCG brands, making food, beverages, and daily essentials more affordable for consumers. From Maggi noodles and Nescafé coffee to Amul butter, Mother Dairy milkshakes, Nutella, and Licious ready meals, companies have already started sharing revised prices through distributors, websites, and newspaper ads.
