With Apple’s “Awe-Dropping” event set for September 9, 2025, fresh leaks suggest the iPhone 17 Pro Max may keep its price steady, while the iPhone 17 Pro could see a modest bump — but with doubled storage softening the blow.
iPhone 17 Series Pricing Details
According to a JPMorgan research note, Apple is discontinuing the 128GB base storage for the Pro model. Instead, the iPhone 17 Pro will start at 256GB storage, priced at $1,099 (approx. ₹1,25,000 in India), compared to last year’s $999 tag.
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: Expected to retain last year’s pricing despite upgrades.
- iPhone 17 Air (slim Plus replacement): May launch at $899–$949.
- iPhone 17 (standard): No major price changes expected.
Pre-orders in India are expected to begin September 12, with deliveries starting September 19, just ahead of the festive season.
Expected Design & Hardware Upgrades
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are tipped to bring serious under-the-hood improvements:
- A19 Pro chip built on 3nm process
- 6.3-inch ProMotion OLED display with 120Hz refresh
- Triple 48MP camera system (wide, ultra-wide, periscope)
- 12GB RAM for better multitasking
- Redesigned aluminium/titanium frame with new colors: copper-orange, dark blue
- Reverse wireless charging support
- Vapour-chamber cooling for improved thermal management
Why It Matters
Apple seems to be balancing value with pricing consistency. By doubling the storage for the Pro model, the slight price hike feels more justified — especially for users relying on local storage for 4K video, gaming, or offline workflows.
Meanwhile, the Pro Max and other models holding steady ensures wider affordability, while the Pro model targets performance-heavy users.
