Bihar Police SI Vacancy 2025: Eligibility, Selection Process, and Salary

The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has announced 1,799 vacancies for the post of Sub-Inspector (SI) under Advertisement No. 05/2025. Out of these, 614 posts are reserved for women candidates. The application process will begin on September 26, 2025, and will continue till October 26, 2025. Vacancy Details

The recruitment is being conducted for Sub-Inspector posts in Bihar Police (Home Department). A total of 1,799 posts will be filled to strengthen law and order in the state. This is a golden opportunity for graduates who meet the fitness standards.

Eligibility Criteria

• Education Qualification: Graduation (or equivalent degree) from a recognized university by August 1, 2025.
• Age Limit:
  • Minimum: 20 years
  • Maximum: 37 years (General Male)
  • Maximum: 40 years (General Female & OBC/EBC candidates)
  • Maximum: 42 years (SC/ST candidates, including third gender).

Physical Standards

• Height:
  • General/OBC (Male): 165 cm
  • SC/ST/EBC (Male): 160 cm
  • All Female Candidates: 155 cm
• Weight: Minimum 48 kg for women candidates.

Selection Process

The Bihar Police SI recruitment will be conducted in three stages:

1. Preliminary Exam – Objective type questions on General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Mathematics, and Reasoning.
2. Mains Exam – Objective/Descriptive papers on advanced subjects.
3. Physical Tests (PET/PST):
   • Male: Run 1.6 km in 6 minutes 30 seconds
   • Female: Run 1 km in 5 minutes
   • High Jump and Long Jump tests also included.

Qualified candidates will then undergo a medical check-up before the final merit list is prepared.

Bihar Police SI Salary 2025

Selected candidates will be appointed under Pay Level-6 of BPSSC.

• Basic Pay: ₹35,400 (starting)
• In-hand Salary: ₹49,000 – ₹54,000 per month (including DA, HRA, TA, medical, ration, and other allowances).
• Pay Scale: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400
• Annual Package: ₹4.25 lakh – ₹13.5 lakh
